Where Jerry stands
Platform & Issues
Jerry Koch's priorities for Anoka County District 4 are rooted in decades of real governing experience — responsible budgets, safe communities, and a county government that works for every resident.
Public Safety
Supporting law enforcement and keeping families safe.
Safe neighborhoods are the foundation of a thriving community. Jerry is an unwavering supporter of law enforcement, firefighters, and first responders. As mayor, he worked hand-in-hand with the Coon Rapids Police and Fire Departments to ensure they had the resources and support they needed. He will carry that commitment to the county level.
- Continued full funding for law enforcement and first responders
- Unwavering opposition to any effort to defund or undermine police
- Sustained investment in mental health and crisis response resources
- Building on proven community-police partnerships
Fiscal Responsibility
Delivering essential services without burdening taxpayers.
Jerry has balanced budgets and managed public resources throughout his 15 years on the Coon Rapids City Council and 12 years as mayor. He will bring that same discipline to the county — scrutinizing every expenditure, resisting unnecessary tax increases, and ensuring Anoka County remains an affordable place to live and do business.
- Hold the line on property tax increases
- Prioritize core services: roads, safety, and infrastructure
- Transparent, accountable budgeting
- Oppose wasteful spending and government overreach
Infrastructure & Growth
Smart, responsible development that serves residents.
Anoka County is growing, and that growth must be managed wisely. Jerry understands the balance between welcoming new residents and businesses while protecting the character and quality of life that make District 4 a great place to call home. He will advocate for infrastructure investments that keep pace with growth — roads, bridges, parks, and utilities.
- Maintain and improve county roads and bridges
- Plan responsibly for population growth
- Protect green space and natural resources
- Support local businesses and economic development
Community & Quality of Life
Investing in the people and places that make Anoka County home.
Jerry has spent his career building community — from Rotary and Scouting to the ARCC Foundation and the Coon Rapids Community Strength Foundation. He knows that strong communities don't happen by accident. They require leaders who show up, listen, and invest in the programs and partnerships that bring people together.
- Support parks, recreation, and community events
- Champion workforce development and access to safety nets
- Foster regional collaboration through organizations like the North Metro Mayors
- Engage residents and keep government accessible and transparent
“I have spent my entire life in this community. I know what works, I know what doesn't, and I know how to get things done — because I have been doing it for decades.
